Chocolate Chip Cookies (3 cookies on the pedestal)

Oil and Acrylic on Cast Gesso and Canvas, with aluminum foil, 4”x4”, 2026

This is not a cookie.

To make these chocolate chip cookies, I first baked cookies. Then I cast them in silicone. In the empty molds, I layered acrylic gesso and scraps of canvas, until I filled the cookie-cavities. When finished, I removed the dried gesso-canvas castings and painted them with oil paint (and a lot of cold wax medium).

Barton Art Galleries presents RAYS OF VIOLET, an exhibition by Fall 2026 Artist-in-Residence Zach Horn. The exhibition highlights Horn’s interdisciplinary practice, which spans painting, installation, and animation and reflects his exploration of diverse artistic methodologies. As Barton College’s Fall 2026 Artist-in-Residence, Horn worked with students and community members from August 24 through September 5 through educational programming and hands-on workshops.
