UNITED WE BARGAIN, DIVIDED WE BEG

This exhibition in honor of Labor Unions is personal.   I come from a long-line of proud Union members.   I am in the Faculty Staff Union under the MTA.  My father, until his recent retirement, was a high-school teacher in Pennsylvania and President of the Cheltenham Teachers Association.  My grandparents were Philadelphia Public School teachers; my grandmother was arrested during a strike in the 1970's.  And, my great-grandfather, who I was blessed to know into adulthood, was the president of a Philadelphia Baker's Union.

I live in Dorchester among pipe-fitters, bricklayers, and heavy machine operators.  These are my neighbors.  They are the unsung heroes of Massachusetts.  This exhibition is dedicated to them.
